The Environmental Health program in the Center for Public Health Policy offers interns an opportunity to work on priority issues impacting the public’s health, including climate change, the built environment, food safety and sustainable food systems, toxic exposures and air quality.  APHA internships are unpaid. APHA internships are unpaid and located in Washington, DC.


Interns complete research on issues, develop fact sheets and background reports, support outreach and communication to public health professionals, and contribute content to the Environmental Health web site. In addition, interns are provided opportunities to participate in relevant hearings, briefings, meetings and webinars, as well as interact with APHA leadership and members.
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for unpaid APHA internships. The internships at APHA are extremely beneficial to those seeking to acquire practical work experience in the above-mentioned areas. Candidates should be working toward a bachelors, graduate, or postgraduate degree, and all majors are welcome. Candidates should also have:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Research and analysis experience
- Strong interest in environmental/environmental health issues
Participate in The Get Ready Campaign public events.
